Early childhood experiences prepare children for a lifetime of learning. We want to provide early learning opportunities for preschool-aged children so that more enter school ready to be successful in their learning.

Programs and Initiatives

  • Early Learning Initiatives provides links to useful websites and print resources.
  • StrongStart BC early learning programs provide school-based early learning services for adults and their young children, aged birth to five, at no cost to families.
  • Ready, Set, Learn school-based program provides an age-appropriate book for participating pre-schoolers.
  • LEAP BC is a set of resource guides for families, caregivers and early learning practitioners, focusing on integrating Literacy, Education, Activity and Play.
  • Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) is a tax-sheltered education savings account that can help you, your family, or friends save for a child’s education after high school.
  • Full Day Kindergarten is being implemented in schools throughout B.C.
